Meagan Lass, Founder Sugarcane Yoga

Hi, I'm Meagan, founder of Sugarcane Yoga.

My journey into yoga started when I was burning the candle at both ends as a chef. Years of working in a kitchen led to chronic stress and back pain with seemingly no solution or relief in sight. When a yoga studio opened three blocks from my house, I had nothing to lose. Those yoga classes changed my life so immensely that I left the restaurant industry and started Sugarcane Yoga in 2018.

I know firsthand what it feels like to walk through life in pain every day. I’ve experienced what chronic stress, anxiety, and burnout can do to your nervous system. I’ve felt defeated and depleted, disconnected from body and brain.

I also know how limiting it feels when you want to make a change, but lack the tools to do so. That's why I created Sugarcane Yoga—a yoga practice for the rest of your life.

We all deserve to feel at home in our bodies. Whether you’re struggling with pain or simply want to move more optimally to avoid pain and injury in the future, I know how to help you.

Through the years, I've taught thousands of yoga classes. My advanced training with Yoga Medicine has given me a profound understanding of anatomy and confidence when working with common injuries. In my classes, we explore pose adaptations that enhance the therapeutic benefits of yoga so that you always walk out feeling better than when you walked in.

The unique approach that Sugarcane Yoga is known for blends yoga with mobility and self-care. Classes are designed to help you better understand your body no matter the phase of life you’re in. Together, we’ll create a strong foundation in your yoga practice and build the movement skills to help you thrive.

Welcome to Sugarcane Yoga. Rooted & Resilient.

Meagan is truly a godsend. After two years of private lessons, she has managed to replace my physical therapist. I had suffered from chronic knee pain for decades. That is no longer the case. Her ability to listen, devise a plan and offer workable solutions; is unparalleled”

I started having private yoga lesson with Meagan at my 4 months postpartum. I was looking for getting some training to help with my recovery. There are many areas I want to improve such as strengthening my pelvic floors and transverse abdominal muscle, ease shoulder and lower back pain. Meagan listened to all my concern patiently, and she seems to have solution/exercises to resolve all of them. I no longer need to get my weekly massage since I can fix my shoulder pain with exercises Meagan taught me. I am very happy to find such great yoga teacher.

Since last fall I have been taking Meagan’s yoga classes along with an 82-year-old friend. We enjoy her classes immensely. Meagan has a talent for adapting her classes to all levels. Her classes include folks using mats and others using chairs and she deftly handles the entire group! My friend’s health issues do not daunt Meagan. She simply passes on advice for modifying the movements. I personally have found her tips useful in dealing with benign vertigo.

Meagan is always on time, never misses classes and above all creates a comfortable atmosphere through her calm demeanor which exudes warmth as she beams encouragement at us. Taking Meagan’s classes have led to physical well-being and inner peace. We are grateful to her!
